Man Who Suffer From Migraines Are More Likely To Have Depression
Patient with chronic headache, especially migraines, are in a greater number likely to suffer from depression, feel exhausted, and have a host of other hard physical symptoms, according to a medical study published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The clinical trial involved 1030 women who buy citalopram online at headache clinics in five states. Of the woman surveyed, 677 reported occasional headache (less than 15 headaches monthly) and 656 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the patient were diagnosed with migraines.
The clinical study found man with chronic headache were four times more inclined than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also three times more predisposed to report a high degree of symptoms related to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.
Among people tested with severely disabling migraine, the clinical trial found the likelihood of major Major Depression increased 32-fold if the women also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms could provoke or be a manifestation of major Atypical Depression in patient with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt online and Depression could heighten pain perception,” said medical investigation author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This relation between migraine and major Psychotic Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”
Tietjen says clinical investigation are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Psychotic Depression should be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Regardless of what’s causing the dependence between migraine and Psychotic Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Depression complicates headache management and can stir up poorer sequel for headache management,” said Tietjen.
The medical trial was supported, in part, by the American Headache Society, which judges 18 million American woman are affected by headache.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 17000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to meliorating man care through enlightenment and medical trial. A neurologist is a doctor specialized on diagnosing, treating and managing diseases of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer’s disorder, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, and multiple sclerosis.
